Rosy Heart for Leonie

Good evening lovely peeps.

Leonie is launching her 'Entwined' collection this evening on Hochanda TV. There are three collections of four co-ordinating heart dies (12 in total) and also six sets of clear stamps.

For my first card I have used 'Funky Heart Base' (which includes the 'Love' word die) and 'Hearts and Swirls'

For the background, I scribbled some Spectrum Aqua Markers ('Peach' and 'Spice') on my craft mat and spritzed them with water.

I dragged some gloss card through the ink and then sprinkled rock salt on the puddles (the same technique that I used on my 'Miss You' card from this morning)

Once this was dry I brushed off the salt and glued it to a 6x6 card blank

I cut the two different hearts from 'plain' patterned papers. Because the paper was only 120gsm I put wax paper in between the die and the paper to help it release more easily and prevent it pulling out of shape.
The waste swirls from the 'Hearts and Swirls' die were ideal for rolling up into paper roses, so I cut a few extra ones to make sure I had enough for a little cluster.

To finish off I die-cut the 'Love' sentiment from the Funky Heart Base set from the same paper.
Simples :)

Miss You for Polkadoodles

Hello peeps, hope you are well.

I've got another card from yesterday's Polkadoodles launch to show you, using parts of the butterfly stamp in the Daisy Days stamp set and one of the sentiments from the CD.

http://cdn6.bigcommerce.com/s-4xtiv/products/2288/images/4787/smedaisy1__32059.1464861493.800.800.jpg?c=2

First I made an inky background on some glossy card by dabbing Distress Inks on my craft mat and spritzing them with water. I used  dusty concord, seedless preserve, shaded lilac and picked raspberry.

Before it dried I quickly sprinkled some rock salt over the ink puddles

After it had dried I brushed off the salt and ran the piece of card through my printer to get the sentiment on there. I quickly blasted it with my heat gun to stop the ink bleeding.

I made more inky backgrounds with the same ink pad colours and then stamped the butterflies onto them several times with grey Memento ink. I cut out the top halves of each wing - they are heart shaped - and glued them onto my card.

Hello Sunshine for Polkadoodles

Hello lovely peeps, and a very warm welcome to my new follower :)

Nikky is launching two gorgeous new stamp & CD collections on Create and Craft at 2pm today and I have made a card with the stamps from 'Summertime' and a sentiment from the 'Daisy Days' CD

I was winging it a bit with this one so I don't have step by step pictures, but I'll talk you through it

First I embossed the flower/seed heads onto Clarity card with Versamark and sprinkled on clear embossing powder. After melting I repeated the process with the bubbles and stems (I did it in two steps as my first attempt to do it all in one go dried too quickly and the result was patchy).

Next I blended mustard seed, spiced marmalade, ripe persimmon and barn door Distress Inks over the card and then flicked water at it. I left it about 15 seconds before I blotted it dry with kitchen towel

I coloured in the seed heads a little with walnut stain DI to give them more definition

I printed the sentiment directly onto some vellum and quickly dried it with a heat gun in case the ink spread on the smooth surface. Once dry I tore the edges to make a strip and wrapped it around the back of my card so I could hide the adhesive.

Flying Free for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

I've got another Leonie make to show you today, using some of the stamps that were launched on 18th May

Flight to Freedom set

I stamped several of the butterflies onto Sheena's stamping card, masking with sticky notes as I went.
They were then coloured in with Spectrum Aqua pens
Peacock Blue and Evergreen
Sunset,  Sunflower and Topaz
Boulder for the bodies

After colouring I painted Pebeo drawing gum over the top to protect the colours.
I made my own spritzer by soaking a piece of kitchen towel in Peacock Blue aquamarker and placing it into a spritzer bottle with water.

I spritzed all over my card and made some little inky puddles on my craft mat with a green aquamarker and clear wink of stella which I flicked all over the card with a wet paintbrush before drying with a heat gun

I cut the card down but left some wing tips poking out over the edges

I matted it on top of some white card which was embossed with a Crafters Companion Hessian folder before I tore the edges.

I stamped and coloured a few extra butterflies onto lightweight watercolour card and cut them out for decoupaging on top, and then wrapped cheesecloth around the card so it looks like they're escaping from a butterfly net.

The whole thing is mounted onto a 7x7 card blank and then to finish off I stamped 'Free' with black memento ink and added some clear dew drops

It's only impossible if you think it is

Hello lovely peeps

As promised, I'm back with another make using the gorgeous new Winnie in Wonderland CD from Polkadoodles, and today it's a girly card.

The Johnny Depp version of Alice in Wonderland was on TV last night and I really enjoyed watching it - it has made me want to read the books all over again.
The digi stamp I chose for my card captures the magical moment when she steps through the door into Wonderland, and the paper I've used for the background has a lovely ethereal feel to it. It was so hard to choose which paper to use, the CD is full of absolute stunners and I've a feeling you'll be seeing a lot of them in my makes for some time to come :)
I cut around the image and then coloured it in with Graph'It markers Skin: 4110, 4135
Hair: 1210, 1230, 1270
Dress: 7165, blender, 5135
Door: 9201, 9203, 9205
Tights & Shoes: Ice Grey 1-4 Promarkers

I've added sparkly gems, cheesecloth and pink ribbon to finish the card off.

Before I go and concentrate on watching the French Open final on TV I wanted to let you know that Nikki from Polkadoodles is launching some brand new stamps and CDs on Create and Craft at 2pm this Tuesday (7th June). Hope you can tune in.

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date

Hello again peeps

Have you seen the new collection 'Winnie in Wonderland' at Polkadoodles?
It is fabulous, and you are going to LUURRVE the papers.

http://www.polkadoodles.co.uk/winnie-in-wonderland-cdrom-printable-digital-card-scrap-collection/

I'll be back tomorrow with a card made with one of the more girly papers, but after spotting the white rabbit with a watch the first thing I wanted to make was a 'Sorry I'm Late' card.

I don't know about you but I am hopeless at sending cards on time, even if I've made them weeks in advance. For some reason I have an aversion to sending them too early, and then before I know it their birthday/anniversary/exam etc. has arrived and their card is still sitting on my craft desk. Oops!

A large batch of these would definitely come in handy :)
So, to make my card I dragged one of the backing papers into CraftArtist (did I mention they are gorgeous?) and then added the black and white version of the white rabbit with a little drop-shadow. With the Smarty Pants font I added the lyrics from "I'm late, I'm late...." which apparently features in the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland, and created the sentiment separately using the same font .

I coloured in the rabbit with Promarkers
Fur: Ice Grey1-3
Waistcoat: Umber and Plum Preserve
Coat: Walnut, Chestnut, Cinnamon and blender
Watch: Pastel Beige and Mustard

It's a knockout

Hello peeps, I hope you are well.

My card today features a boxer, which is a sad coincidence coming after the news of the death of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, an outstanding campaigner for civil rights as well as a great sportsman.  Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

So, it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Calendar and our theme this month is
Father's Day/For a Male

and our sponsor is
Dr Digi

"Welcome to the brilliantly bizarre brain of Dr. Digi's House of Stamps. Here you will find monsters, aliens, odd balls and Dundertons as well as many many more wonderful digital stamps. Our artist and founder cut his teeth in the craft world at the company "Just Inklined", where his unique digis made a huge impression.
We're hoping to continue to entertain and amuse, with our growing catalogue of great value digis with
a sense of humour."

I've used the digi stamp 'Rocky' for my card and coloured him in with Promarkers and Graph'Its
poppy, antique pink, ice grey 1-4
4115, 4155, 4170

I wanted a black & white newspaper style background for him but couldn't find one in my stash so I printed off one of the script design sheets from the Fairyopolis CD by Crafters Companion in black and white instead. I did the sentiment on my computer.
