Motherly Love on Throwback Tuesday

Hello lovely peeps

This week's Throwback Tuesday make is a card that I made with one of Leonie Pujol's Entwined Heart dies.

When I first saw the Funky Heart Base it reminded me of those abstract porcelain figurines of a mother and her child, so for my card I decided to sketch some faces inside the heart.

I kept the rest of the card very simple. The heart and 'Love' (from the same set) are cut from pink Adorable Scorable card, with cream AS for the base and banner. A little organza bow in the child's hair makes her look a little more girly.

If you would like to recreate this for your personal use you can download my drawing on my Freebies page.

Forever Swirls for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps, I hope you are well.

I'm just popping in with one of the cards I made for Leonie last year which made a reappearance on TV during the sale shows in March.

For the swirly layer I ran some peach core-dinations card through Leonie's Forever Swirls embossing folder and sanded the pattern lightly with a sandpaper block.

I die-cut the Big Heart Base from some darker peach card and some patterned script card, then wound some of the swirly bits in between the frame and the centre. The 'Love' die comes with the Funky Heart Base and I cut it from olive green card.

The paper flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the metal charm and pink twine are from The Ribbon Girl

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend.

Pawprints for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

The inspiration for this card was one of the stamps in Leonie's Inky Notes set - it looks like a pawprint. The sentiment was lurking somewhere in long-term storage in my brain so I've no idea where it came from, but it was perfect for what I had in mind.

I did the wording on my computer using the font "Mister Sirloin BTN Rare" then just printed it onto white card and cut it up, finishing off with my usual trick of going round all the edges with a black fineliner pen.

I cut the Funky Heart Base from black card and the Interlocking Love Overlay from white card. The pawprints are stamped over the inner part of the die-cut with black Memento ink. I left the outer part white and entwined it with the black heart before sticking it all down onto Kraft card.

I masked off most of the card with some paper and stamped the pawprint all over the bottom to make a border. One of Tim Holtz's mini crazy dogs stamped onto Kraft card finishes it off.

Doodle Drop Hearts for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps, and a very warm welcome to my two new followers :)

I've used a mix of Leonie's products on this card, they all work so well together.

First I wet some watercolour card and painted on some dollops of colour using Leonie's orange Sparkle Pen (from the Bright Lights set).

Once that was dry I stamped the mini hearts from the Doodle Drops set a few times with Versamark, sprinkled with Detail White embossing powder and heat-set.

I had previously (very carefully) cut one of the hearts away from the rest and this is what I used to add little accent hearts, stamped using Distress Inks.

I cut the Funky Heart Base from white shrink plastic and shrank it with my heat gun, then cut the 'Love' die that comes with it from black card and glued it over the top using Glossy Accents.

One of the Pretty Borders stamps was used around the outside of the card - I stamped it in black Memento ink so I was able to easily rub it off the white embossed hearts.

The 'you' is from Leonie's From The Heart stamp set.

You can just about see the sparkle from the glitter pen in this shot, it looks much more blingy in real life.

Create with all your heART for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

Just popping in to show you how I made this colourful heART card for Leonie's sale shows on Hochanda TV today.

First I cut the Funky Heart Base from watercolor card and then placed a few of the Art masks over the top of the 'innie' bit.

I dabbed over with twisted citron Distress Ink

then over-stamped with two of the patterns from Branching Out

masking off as I went with sticky notes

Next for the outlines - I sprinkled Crimson Brusho powder onto more watercolour card

and spritzed with water

then repeated with Purple Brusho

These were used to make the heart outlines, cut with the Funky Heart Base (purple) and Hearts and Swirls Overlay (red) dies

I wanted my sentiment to go around the edge of the heart, so I used the die-cuts as a template to draw in pencil on my card blank roughly where I wanted the heart to go.

I drew another line in pencil a couple of cm away, to stamp the sentiment along.

The sentiment is from one of Leonie's older sets called Flight to Freedom. I cut it up to make it easier to separate the words.

200th post blog candy

Hello lovely peeps and welcome to my 200th blog post :)

That means it's candy time  !!

Well, I've been busy in the 7 months since my 100th post.  I have:
  • been one of the runners up in the Card Designer of the Year competition in Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine (coincidentally, the advent calendar on my 100th post was part of my competition entry)
  • joined the lovely (and slightly mad) ladies on the Polkadoodles Design Team, thank you girls for making me so welcome
  • seen my very first Design Team (Lili of the Valley Design Collective) disbanded which was obviously a sad occasion for me but I'm so grateful to have been on the team and made so many wonderful crafty friends (EDIT - the Design Collective is still going, but with reduced involvement as there is a new core Design Team)
  • been chosen as a member of Leonie Pujol's very first Design Team - I was (and am) chuffed to bits as I have been a fan of Leonie since her QVC days.
  • joined the Sugar Nellie Blog Challenge team for a 4-month stint, as well as having Guest Designer spots at Crafting By Designs, All Dressed Up and Color Throwdown
Wow, no wonder the year is going by so quickly :D

And through all this I've had support from you, my fabulous followers. It means so much to have you visit little ol' me, and your wonderful comments really make my day. As a thank you I'm having a huge giveaway worth over £80.

The dies:

Thank you to Craftasmic in Taunton for donating the Cottage Cutz Ice Cream die, and Crafters Companion for the Leonie Pujol dies, two of which are from her latest launch. The heart is especially useful as you can roll up the spiral parts to make 3D flowers.

The Stamps:

There is no packaging included with the 'Off She Flew' stamps but this is a picture of it

The Paper:

This is a full 8x8 paper pad from Lili of the Valley which has been discontinued and includes one of my favourite wood effect paper designs.

The rest:

A few embellishments, including 100 dew drops and a .005 black fineliner pen which I use on practically everything (yours is new and unused!)
I will also include a £5 Polkadoodles gift certificate for the winner

Rosy Heart for Leonie

Good evening lovely peeps.

Leonie is launching her 'Entwined' collection this evening on Hochanda TV. There are three collections of four co-ordinating heart dies (12 in total) and also six sets of clear stamps.

For my first card I have used 'Funky Heart Base' (which includes the 'Love' word die) and 'Hearts and Swirls'

For the background, I scribbled some Spectrum Aqua Markers ('Peach' and 'Spice') on my craft mat and spritzed them with water.

I dragged some gloss card through the ink and then sprinkled rock salt on the puddles (the same technique that I used on my 'Miss You' card from this morning)

Once this was dry I brushed off the salt and glued it to a 6x6 card blank

I cut the two different hearts from 'plain' patterned papers. Because the paper was only 120gsm I put wax paper in between the die and the paper to help it release more easily and prevent it pulling out of shape.
The waste swirls from the 'Hearts and Swirls' die were ideal for rolling up into paper roses, so I cut a few extra ones to make sure I had enough for a little cluster.

To finish off I die-cut the 'Love' sentiment from the Funky Heart Base set from the same paper.
Simples :)
