Nautical Daughter

Hello lovely peeps

Another commission to show you today. My friend's daughter loves tall ships - she has worked on one and even has a ship tattoo, so her card had to have a nautical theme.

I found this ship stamp in my stash which was perfect for the job - it's from a Paper Artsy Hot Picks set (HP1202).

First though I'll go through how I did the background.

I took a sheet of watercolour card and splatted on some Pebeo Drawing Gum.

After realising the larger drops wouldn't dry I dabbed some off  ðŸ˜‚
Then I took a swirly stencil and sponged some vaseline through onto the card.

I dissolved some Sea Green Brusho powder with water in a spritzer bottle then sprinkled Sea Green and Prussian Blue Brusho powders onto the paper. I spritzed over with the diluted green.

I repeated this a couple of times, moving some puddles around with my finger (use a latex glove, the dye is very strong)

Once that was dry I used a paintbrush to splatter on some diluted Prussian Blue, then added a bit more colour with Evergreen Bough and Broken China distress inks.

After cutting the card down I stamped the main ship image in the centre with Black Archival Ink (I didn't ink up the giant fish part of the stamp)

For the waves I used an old vellum envelope that I've been saving for about 11 years 😂

I overstamped around the edges with some script/compass/swirl stamps and the distress inks, then layered onto navy card then a white 8x8 card blank.

The lettering was cut from white and navy card using the Debi Potter script alphabet thinlit dies from Sizzix and attached with Pinflair glue.

To finish off I added some twine and a button from my stash.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-

Totally brilliant card Katrina and I love the detailed step-by-step! Would never have thought to use Vaseline as a sort of resist - clever!

Hugs
