Building Sandcastles on Throwback Tuesday

Hello lovely peeps

It's Throwback Tuesday again and this week features another card made using the Starfish and Sandcastles VIP XXL Collection from Polkadoodles.

I pulled the black and white version of Winnie into CraftArtist and added a couple of the background papers behind her, 'cutting' the sand paper with the scissor tool to make the horizon look more realistic.

After printing off the topper onto super smooth white card I coloured Winnie in with Graph'It markers and then added a paper pieced umbrella. The lettering and sentiment are all in the collection, I added doodled borders around these and the main topper using a black fineliner pen.

Everything is layered up on a 7x7" card which I've covered with another of the backing papers, and some stapled ribbons from my stash add a little finishing touch.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-

Monochrome Heart for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

Today I've got an MDF Heart to show you, decorated with dies and stamps by Leonie Pujol.

First I cut some flowers and leaves from black card using the Flower Bursts dies and rubbed on some Pebeo silver gilding wax.

For the centres I used this one - I snipped into the die-cuts and rolled them up with a quilling tool.

I shaped the flowers on a foam mat with a large ball tool

then glued three layers and one centre together using a glue gun

To decorate the heart I took some ivory card from my stash and traced around an MDF heart with a pencil.

After cutting the heart out and glueing it to the MDF using Mod Podge, I sanded the edges to get a flush finish. Before splatting on some black ink I covered half of the heart with some kitchen roll.

To get the splats I pressed a black Memento inkpad onto my craft mat and picked the ink up with a large wet paintbrush, then tapped the brush over the top of my project.

Next I took one of the stamps in the Gimme Texture set and stamped around the edge of the heart, starting at the top.

Oops, missed a bit - I'll fill it in with a black fineliner at the end :o)

The sentiment is from Leonie's Hey There Dreamer stamp set.

For hanging the heart up I poked a hole through the card with my pokey tool (from the back first so it lined up with the hole in the MDF), and attached a loop of black spotted organza ribbon by knotting it at the back. I attached three of the flowers with a glue gun then after a bit of umming and aahing I tucked a couple of leaves in at the top to finish it off.

Another Grey Hare

Hello lovely peeps

A quick card for you today using the fabulous Party Grumplings stamp set from Taylored Expressions. I love these cute little guys and the sentiments are hilarious :o)

I stamped the sentiment straight onto some linen card after stapling on some masculine ribbon but the hare was stamped onto Super Smooth 160gsm, coloured with Promarkers and then fussy cut.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
The Male Room #64 Theme - Texture (linen card, ribbon)
The Ribbon Girls July any card
The Crazy Challenge #252 animals
One Crazy Stamper Anything Goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #61 Anything Goes (always)
As You Like It Challenge favourite way to use ribbon - attaching 3 fishtails at the top of the card is a great way to use up little scraps of ribbon and can be made girly with buttons or flowers to embellish or more masculine as I've done here by using staples

Christmas Kisses for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps, it's sneaky peek time :o)

This is one of the cards that I have made for Leonie's shows on Hochanda next Thursday, 13th July, featuring some of her Christmas stamps. The shows are scheduled for 8am, 12pm and 4pm and will also feature dies and embossing folders.

First I stamped the two birds from the Perch stamp set onto Kraft card with Black Archival ink - positioned so they are kissing each other

Next I added some mistletoe - this was cut from the Festive Foliage stamp

I added a couple of sprigs directly above them

then added more along the top of the card.

I coloured the birds in with Copper and Berry sparkle pens

and the mistletoe with Clear sparkle pen with a tiny bit of Holly Leaf mixed in. The berries were painted in with Zinc White acrylic.

For the first half of the greeting I painted a scrap of Kraft card with a wash of Zinc White then stamped over with 'Christmas' from the Christmas Greetings set.

For the second I masked off the swirly part of the 'Kisses' stamp from an older set (called Love Hearts) and stamped onto Kraft card with Black Archival ink.

Then I painted over with a mix of clear/Holly Leaf sparkle pen and left it to dry.
I doodled a border around with a black fineliner pen to match the style of the 'Christmas' part.

I decided last minute to tone down the sparkle pen on the birds and went over the top with a wash of Zinc white. I think this blends in better with the Kraft card.

To ground the birds I painted some Zinc White along the bottom of the card then I doodled in some legs and feet with the fineliner pen. Some black pearls for eyes finish it off.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
My Time to Craft #349 Christmas in July

Introducing Throwback Tuesday with Whale of a time

Hello lovely peeps

I've got another unblogged card for you today, which was only posted in a group on Facebook last year. As I still have several old cards to show you I thought I'd make a regular thing of it and have

Throwback Tuesdays

When I've eventually blogged all of my old cards I plan on using Throwback Tuesday to show you new cards that I make with old stamps. I've got dozens of old stamps in my stash, the majority of which are unused, so it will give me a good excuse to get them out and have a play.

So my first official 'Throwback Tuesday' card is a simple one. The papers, image and sentiment are all from the Starfish and Sandcastles VIP XXL Collection at Polkadoodles.

I printed the whale onto two different papers and cut one of them out to paper piece on top of the other. I coloured in the bottom of the whale with a dark grey Promarker.

The sentiment was cut with a circle die and layered on a slightly larger circle which I coloured with a red Promarker. For a bit of texture I added Fluffy Stuff where the water splashes are and heated it (it will still puff up if you leave it overnight to dry but I'm impatient, lol)

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
Pink and Main Challenge #23 Red, white and blue
Angie's Digital Stamps #11 Anything Goes + twist: Red, White and/or Blue
Dragonfly Journeys #95 Red, White, Blue

Feature a Creature at LOTV

Hello lovely peeps

There's a new challenge on the Lili of the Valley Facebook page - Feature a Creature.

To be in with a chance of winning one of three Lili of the Valley vouchers, all you need to do is create something to fit our theme using a LOTV image and then post it on the Facebook event page before 21st July 2017. There's plenty of gorgeous animals to choose from -  bunnies, bears, cats, dogs, mice, squirrels, birds and more.

For my inspiration card I've used Odd Dog Mug of Tea (still available as a digi, although I have used the rubber stamp version).

First I stamped him onto watercolour card with Black Archival Ink and then coloured him in with Tim Holtz Distress Markers - Tea Dye, Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo. The sentiment is from the Teenage Boy Sentiments stamp set.

The papers I've used are from a 6"x6" Santoro Willow paper pad and I've added sinamay mesh and a few buttons from my stash to finish the card off.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends  #61 Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations #278 Dots and/or stripes
Alphabet Challenge H for Hearts

Dressmaker for Crafty Calendar

Hello lovely peeps

We have a new challenge starting today at Crafty Calendar and it's an easy theme this month

Anything Goes

Our sponsor is Stamping Studio  and the prize is one image from each artist. Join their Facebook group Stamping Studio for freebies and specials.

I've used Dressmaker - Mari Digis and coloured it in with Promarkers/Flexmarkers

Skin: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush
Hair: 3250 (Graph'It), Caramel, Sandstone
Suit: Olive Green, Soft Khaki
Blouse: Ice Grey 3 & 1
Pincushion: Crimson
Dummy: Caramel, Sandstone, Blush, Ivory
Dress: Watermelon, Pale Pink

The papers are from Dress Shop, a retired 8x8 paper pad from Lili of the Valley. First I cut them to the size I wanted then inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink

then went around the edges with my stab & stitch tool (I used a wedge of paper underneath to protect my cutting mat).

I joined up the holes with a grey pencil

and then roughened the paper edges with my scissors.

After layering up everything on a 6"x6" scalloped card I stamped out the cotton reel sentiment onto white card and cut it out - this is from an old Anna Marie Designs set. I punched a hole in this and added a little pink organza ribbon. Some co-ordinating buttons from my stash finish it off.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
The Ribbon Girls June any image
Deep Ocean Challenge #158 Lots of layers
Sisterhood of Crafters  Buttons
Cardz 4 Galz # 50 sew and sew
