Lily's New Home for Polkadoodles

Hello lovely peeps, I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Celebrations for Polkadoodles' 7th birthday continue, and today it's my turn to use a digi that has been put together by one of my team mates

As this anniversary is normally called the "7 year itch", the Polka Doodles team have embraced the prickly feeling by scratching that itch and mixing/scratching up some new images ... get the pun? Corny we know but the team have had great fun. So to embrace the “itchy scratch” the Polka Doodles team have thrown caution to the wind and “scratched up” a different kind of birthday celebration.

The birthday celebrations are running for 2 weeks and each day someone from the Polka Doodles team will be sharing their “mixed/scratched up” image. It’s been all hush hush and secret squirrel too as no one knows who has been busy creating what and when they will be revealing their image... so the Polka Doodles team get to join in the fun too. To add an extra layer of itchy fun, everyone has also been colouring up the new “scratched/mixed up” images, (still not knowing who designed them) and they will be sharing via their blogs and on FaceBook.

We really have scratched things up ... new merged images, no one knows who created what and no one knows when they’ll be sharing them ...!
Please do take the opportunity to visit the Polka Doodles team and see their new digi images because you will find a discount code (or two) along your way that you can use in the Polka Doodles shop.

For my card I have been given a great image which is a mash up of Lily Love Bug Heart Balloon and a mushroom house from the Cherryblossom Lane CD

I printed the image onto white card and also a spotty paper from the Pretty Tuff CD so I could paper-piece the roofs. The version on white card has been coloured in with Promarkers and a few Graph'Its
Mushroom House: Satin, Putty, Tawny Owl, Khaki, Umber, Ice Grey 1&2
Ladybird: Poppy, 9506
Hair & Skin: 3255, 3290, 4115, 4155

I have added flowers from the Magic Garden CD and lettering cut with an X-Cut alphabet die

True Love for Polkadoodles

Hello peeps.

I'm very honoured to announce that for the next 3 months I am going to be a Guest Designer over at Polkadoodles.   ~Happy Dance~

This is my first card for them for this fortnight's challenge - the theme is 'Love & Romance'.

I have used a digistamp called 'True Love', which is available as a separate download or as part of the Work & Play 9 'Love and Kisses' bundle or CD.

I coloured the image in with my Graph'It markers:
Skin: 4115, 4155, 4180
Her Hair: 1210, 1230, 1270
His Hair: 3210, 3255, 3290
Dress: Budding Rose PM, 6150

The engagement sentiment is from the Cherryblossom Lane CD and the patterned papers I've used are printed from 3 different Polkadoodles CDs. The dotty paper is from the Pretty Tuff CD and I've just roughened the edges with my scissors. The brown Circles paper is from Work & Play CD 6 and I die-cut it using an X-Cut Heart die before roughening the edges. I tried the same technique with a smaller heart die and some vellum but the vellum creased too much and didn't tear well. Instead I used the heart die as a template to draw on some more plain vellum and tore it by hand.

To make the shaker I passed the rose paper (from the Pretty Sweet CD) through my ebosser machine with two nesting circle dies, which made a circular frame. This was then taped on top of a circle of acetate, which was cut with the largest of the two circle dies. I attached foam tape all around the underside of the acetate circle, making sure to leave no gaps. For the shaker pieces I punched some heart shapes from vellum. The patterned vellum was some that I've had for years from a pound shop. The coloured vellum started off white so I coloured it with a Graph'It marker to match the Chrysanthemum before punching the hearts out.

The flowers are mostly from Wild Orchid Crafts, but a couple are from my stash. The gorgeous lace was also from Wild Orchid crafts but doesn't seem to be on their site any more.

Say What?

Hi peeps, I've got a cheeky little card for you today :)

This little fella is Nacho, by Stamping Bella.
I have coloured him in with Graph'It markers
3245, 3250, 3270, 4150, 5135
9100, 9401, 9500, 9501

The fabulous dotty paper is from a Polkadoodles CD called Pretty Tuff.

I wanted to put the wording inside a speech bubble, you can get dies in this shape but I don't have one so I had to improvise. I have some nesting dies that are like ovals but with the pointy ends chopped off (I think they're Sizzix framelits but they've got separated from the packaging). A large oval die would work just as well.

I traced around the inside and outside of the die with a pencil and drew in the bottom of an apostrophe

I cut around the apostrophe with my craft knife (but not the top!) and slotted the die underneath it.

After passing it through my ebosser I now have a speech bubble

Mmm, time for a new blade in my craft knife I think, it's looking a bit raggedy. To disguise this I went around the edges a couple of times with a black fineliner pen.

I stamped my greeting in with Retro Alphabet stamps from My Sentiments Exactly.
