Woodcut Owl

Hello lovely peeps

Just popping in to share the card I've made for the latest Lawn Fawn challenge.

Lawn Fawnatics #124 cards for guys

I inked up the owl from the Critters in the Arctic set with Frayed Burlap distress ink and then direct coloured the eyes and feet with a black watercolour marker before stamping.

After masking off the owl with a post-it note mask I stamped the large sushi roll from the Let's Roll stamp set underneath him and added some lines with the fine tip of a distress marker (Gathered Twigs) to make it look like a piece of chopped tree trunk. I coloured everything in with Copic markers (E70, E71, E74, E40, E41) and then cut it out.

For the background I inked up the Aall & Create Wood Pile stencil with Frayed Burlap and spritzed with water before pressing down onto some white card. I cut a piece into a tag shape using my paper trimmer and drew some stitching around the edge (again, with the fine end of the Gathered Twigs distress marker).

I used the 'happy' and 'birthday' dies (both from the Lawn Fawn scripty range) to cut the sentiment from brown paper and glued them to a 5"x7" card blank along with the tag.

Unfortunately I got an ink smudge on my card after I'd stuck everything down (note to self: don't try to reink pens when your new project is still on your desk). Luckily I had some enamel dots with vaguely similar colours and they managed to cover it up :D

I would also like to enter my card in the following challenges:-

Crafty Catz #595  AG option masculine

Simply Less is More #464 Technique - use a tag

Seize The Birthday #238 Faux or real stitching

Thanks for stopping by, stay safe
