Iris Folding for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

Just popping in to show you the final sample that I made for Leonie's Christmas sale show on Hochanda.

First of all I created some patterned papers to use for the iris folding. I stamped Christmas Cheer, Swirls and FlakesChristmas Borders and Festive Foliage onto A6 pieces of Inkylicious Satin Artcard with Versamark ink (you could also use Clarity coated card).

Next I used a brayer to add ink to each piece and left it to dry - the third one was inked with a mix of Stonewashed and Juniper.

I cut each piece down into strips and folded them on my scoreboard.

Next I made an aperture in an A5 piece of white card using the Cross Base die from Leonie's Entwined Collection and then debossed the card with the Entwined Frame embossing folder.

For the iris folding pattern I adapted a square pattern by adding a few extra lines on one edge.

I lined the centre up with the middle of the cross and wrote the numbers in again where they were hidden by the card. The pattern is fixed to the front of the card with masking tape - this is a view of the back of the card.

Using a tape pen for speed, I started taping down strips of the brown paper along the bottom section of the cross, lining up with the pattern underneath.

As you get towards the middle start to bring in the other colours.

It's a good idea to occasionally flip your card over and check that it's looking OK on the front.

Once I'd finished the pattern I put some silver glitter paper in the centre and attached the piece to an A5 card blank.

For the frame around the cross I put a sheet of Pebeo silver foil on some card covered in Stix2 double sided adhesive and ran it through my ebosser machine with the Cross Base die again.

To finish off I cut the 'Peace' die (in the same set) from more of the foiled card.

Thanks for stopping by,
Katrina x
