Good Vibrations for Polkadoodles

Hello lovely peeps

It's time for a new challenge at Polkadoodles, and the rules have changed a bit. Instead of having a compulsory theme, from now on the challenges will be 'Anything Goes' but there will be an extra optional theme for those of you who like something specific to aim for.

So the theme for this next fortnight is 'Anything Goes' with an option of 'Anything but Square'.

I've used part of a sentiment, some papers and a digistamp from the fabulous Starfish and Sandcastles VIP XXL Collection to make a rocker card. Rocco is coloured with Promarkers and I've added buttons and some cloud die-cuts to finish.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-

Foxy for Sugar Nellie

Hello lovely peeps and welcome to my new followers, I am thrilled to have you here.

It's time for a new challenge at Sugar Nellie, the theme as always is Anything Goes. You could win some fabulous goodies and you just need to make something with a Sugar Nellie image

For my inspiration card I've used the Gorjuss stamp set called The Fox. I love this set - as well as the main adorable image you get two cute little foxes plus some leaves and funky stars.

I stamped the main image onto Joanna Sheen's Elegance Satin card with black Memento ink and coloured her in with Promarkers (Pear Green, Lime Zest, Ice Grey 1-4, Budding Rose) and Graph'its for the skin and hair (sorry, I didn't make a note of them, doh).

I stamped the foxes onto some 'Falling Leaves' paper by Trimcraft/First Edition. After cutting them out I coloured the tails in with a white pen.

My card is layered up with some more papers in the same set, plus a gingham paper from Nitwit (Butterfly Kisses) and a circle of Hunkydory foiled acetate.

Please pop over to the Sugar Nellie blog to see some more inspiration from my fabulous teamies. If you have a Sugar Nellie image why don't you join in the fun this month? :)

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-

Motherly Love for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps

Did you catch Leonie on Hochanda this afternoon? She was having a play with her Entwined Heart collection during her regular Let Leonie Loose show.  If you haven't seen it yet, I'm giving away a die from this collection as part of my 200th blog post celebration.

Email followers can enter too - see the giveaway post for details.

Here's a card I made for the launch show back in June using this range.

The heart I've used is the Funky Heart base, which comes with a 'Love' sentiment and some twirly bits.

As soon as I saw this die it reminded me of those abstract figurines you can get of a mother and child.

After a few attempts with a pencil and scrap paper I managed to draw a pair of recognisable faces to fit into the outline. I sprayed fine hairspray over the drawing to seal it.

I cut the heart and sentiment from pink Adorable Scorable card and layered up onto a cream card with layers of white, just adding a little organza bow for the girl's hair.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, the light wasn't good at the time and it's a devil trying to capture really pale colours.

Rustic daisies for Polkadoodles

Hello lovely peeps and welcome to my new follower :)

Just popping in to show you a 'rustic' card I made with the Daisy Days stamp set from Polkadoodles

http://cdn6.bigcommerce.com/s-4xtiv/products/2288/images/4787/smedaisy1__32059.1464861493.800.800.jpg?c=2

First I stamped and embossed the daisy head, stems and tiny circles onto Kraft card with Versamark ink and white embossing powder. I wet the edges so I could tear it down to the size I wanted.

I went over the card with Walnut Stain distress ink and then spattered water on

Next I coloured in the daisies with Titanium White and Rich Gold acrylic paint by Daler Rowney

I covered up the daisy heads with sticky notes and spattered on white and then gold paint over the background.

I covered a 6x6 card base with corrugated card 'made' from a cardboard box (just peel the top layer of paper off) and then added some torn white card on top before layering on my topper.
It's finished off with a sentiment from the CD and a button on top of some natural fibres.

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
Simon Says Stamp (Mon)  Add Some Texture
Mod Squad Challenge - Use Kraft
Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers #64 R is for Resist Technique

Marshmallow texture for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps, and welcome to my new follower - I'm thrilled to have you :)

I'm back with another of the samples using Leonie's new products.

So I started off my card by making a spritzed background.
To make my spray I spooned a tiny bit of Brusho crystals into an empty spritzer bottle, added a bit of water and gave it a good swoosh around. I cut a 6" square of Sheena's Stamping card and sprayed it first with yellow and then orange. The orange pretty much obliterated the yellow but you can still see a bit of it :)

I glued on a strip of natural Sinamay ribbon for some texture and then made a start on the focal point.

I die-cut some pink patterned paper with the 'All the Love' hearts and glued it on with Cosmic Shimmer glue (Note to self: don't use glues that cling on like cement unless you're happy with the design).

Having decided I didn't like the pink I die-cut some white card instead and then covered it with Versamark ink. I sprinkled on loads of Chunky White Embossing Enamel...

Doesn't that look cool? I'm might have a go at doing this with glue so I can leave it that way. However, as I'd used Versamark I needed to now melt the powder else it would all fall off.

Really pleased with how this looks, it's like melted marshmallow :)

I layered it on top of the pink version and then added a bit of washi tape and a white flower. The sentiment in the corner is from the Funky Texture stamps that are also on the shows, stamped with Black Memento ink.

    Mwah for Leonie

     Hello lovely peeps

Leonie is launching a brand new collection right now on Hochanda TV of Mixed Media dies and also some stamps. They are fabulous and will probably sell like hot cakes :)

I started off my card by making the background.
Here I've blended Distress Inks onto some Sheena Stamping Card.

I stamped some of the flower stamps over the top using the same colours of ink.

I found some nice chipboard letters in my stash and covered them with Titanium White acrylic paint

I cut the mouth shape from the 'Looking Good' die set out of white card a few times and coloured them in with Promarkers. I then dabbed them on my Versamark ink pad, covered with clear embossing powder and melted with my heat gun. This gives them a lovely glossy finish and intensifies the colours (below is the 'before' and 'after' picture)

I cut the background down to fit a 6"x6" card blank before wrapping organza ribbon around the back and attaching it to the base card.

    French maid for Leonie

    Hello lovely peeps

I thought I'd pop in to show you how I made the 'French maid' card that was on Leonie's last launch show. It's using the embossing folder called 'Dotty Heart'

When I first received the folder I embossing some thick white card with it, and thought how lovely it would look with lace. The idea for a French maid outfit came pretty shortly after :)

First I drew a little apron shape onto white card and cut it out.

After running it through the embossing folder I put some strong double-side tape around the edge.

I attached the lace around the edges, adding in little creases as I went

To hold the creases in place I added little blobs of Cosmic Shimmer glue and held the fold in place with a finger for 30-60 seconds to make sure it held. I added a long piece of lace along the top of the apron for tying around the 'waist' later on.

Once the apron was done I needed a little black outfit for it to go over.
The large heart stamp in the 'Make a Wish' stamp set has some lovely swirl detail and I thought this would make a nice decoration for the top (and obviously the shape is suggestive of a bustier)

I traced the shape onto some black card but once past the 'bust line' I went down to an imaginary waist.

Once the shape was cut out I inked up the top of the heart with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with black embossing powder (you could use clear but I've managed to get bits of white powder in mine so it didn't look very good)

The next step was to give my maid's outfit a 'feather duster'. I found a packet of pink feathers in my stash (I knew they would come in handy one day)

and I bound them together with some white florist tape

    So here's my finished card.
I've just added a few paper flowers and sentiments from the fabulous Love Hearts set.

    Gilded Hearts for Leonie

    Hello lovely peeps

I'm back with another sample using Leonie's lovely new embossing folders, this one is called Entwined Love.

First I put some black centura pearl card into the folder and ran it through my ebosser.

Then I rubbed some of the luscious Pebeo gilding wax (empire gold and renaissance gold) over the embossed areas.  This was layered onto more black centura pearl and I wrapped gold and copper organza ribbon around before attaching it to a 7x7 card blank.

Next I heat embossed the hearts from the Doodle Hearts stamp set with Versamark and black detail powder, then cut them out. The sentiment is from the Everlasting Love stamp set, embossed with detail black powder onto some gold card.

    Monstrous Party for Color Throwdown

    Hello lovely peeps

I'm very excited to be joining the very talented team at Color Throwdown today as their 'Guest Star Stamper'. Colour really inspires me and is usually the main reason I am drawn to a particular card design/patterned paper etc.

They provide a little picture each week for inspiration and pick out the main colours that you need to have in your creation. The picture for this week's challenge is

So I had a little troll through my digi stamps and found a little gem from Tiddly Inks called 'Monstrous Party' which suits this colour scheme down to the ground.

I printed it onto stamping card and coloured it in with a mix of Graph'Its and Promarkers
    Ground: Ice Grey 1-4
    Left hand Monster: 4115, 4155, 4180
    Middle Monster: 5255, 5270, 5280
Right hand Monster: 5150 and Ice Grey 4
    Balloon: 6125 and 6140
Horns, feet and arms: Morning Mist and Grey Squirrel

I typed the sentiment on my computer and layered it up with scraps of patterned papers to match the colours on the main image.

    Brusho Hearts for Leonie

    Hello lovely peeps

I've got another card to show you that I've made with 'Growing Love' - one of Leonie's lovely new embossing folders.

First I ran a piece of 5"x7" 300gsm white card through the embossing folder and set it to one side to keep clean.

Next I put some Brusho crystals into a paint palette and added a bit of water to each colour. I've used vermillion, orange, violet, yellow and rose red

I sploshed the paint onto some damp watercolour card, using a clean very damp paintbrush for each new colour and also brushing on some clean water as I went to make the the colours bleed into each other a bit

After drying it off with a heatgun I ran it through the embossing folder and then cut out all of the individual hearts, trying to keep track of which one went where :o)

I then had a little segue trying to make something where the hearts were dangling down. After faffing around with different backgrounds/buttons/embellishments/colours for practically an entire day I couldn't find any combination I was happy with so I abandoned the idea and went back to my original plan. I thought you might like to see one of it's incarnations though.

So, after glueing all the individual hearts into place on the white version of the embossed card, I attached co-ordinating ribbons and buttons down the left hand side and added a simple sentiment banner (using Leonie's 'All the Love' stamp set).
