Whale canvas for Leonie

Hello lovely peeps, I hope you have been enjoying Leonie's shows today on Hochanda. There have been some fabulous techniques and demos. If you have missed any you can catch up for 7 days on Hochanda's website.

Before I get onto my canvas I'd like to say 'welcome' to another new follower (yes, another one since this morning's post, how exciting is that?). While I'm at it I'd like to say 'Thank You' to all my followers for supporting me and leaving such lovely comments, it's means such a lot to me.

Anyway, enough mushy stuff - you want to see my canvas.

To start off my scene I painted a 6x6 canvas (from Clarity) with chalk paints. These are verrrrryy expensive paints (not!). They are 50p clearance testers from Wickes DIY store :D

I also painted some of Sheena's stamping card for layering up later on.

Next I stamped the wings from the 'Kaleidoscope Dreams' set with Versamark just under the water line and sprinkled on Classic Pewter embossing powder from Stamp n Stuff. I rubbed off the powder from the part where the wings join so it looks more like a whale's tail

After heat setting this I sprinkled on some Chunky White Deep Impressions embossing enamel from Stampendous. I used a low speed heat gun (it looks like a hairdryer) from about 10-12 inches to melt the granules so they did not fly off the canvas.

Next I brayered some white acrylic paint onto a teflon mat and used this as the 'ink pad' for the cloud and seagull stamps. I filled in the clouds a little with more white and also coloured in the wings/tail.

I added a bit of definition to the seagulls with the fine tip of a black spectrum aqua pen and also filled in the tips and centre of the tail with the brush end.

I embossed one of the painted pieces of card I made earlier with the Wood Grain folder from Crafters Companion and cut along one of the contours to give it a more natural shape.

After adding a bit more Chunky White embossing enamel this was then glued on to the bottom half of the canvas to give the impression of waves.

I added a second wave layer for extra dimension and then mounted the whole thing onto an 8x8 canvas before attaching tiny shells around the edge with Glossy Accents

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:-
